An important step in becoming the company you always envisioned is branding. Branding allows not only the visual aspect of the company to stand out, but also helps show who you are, what you stand for and why clients would be interested.
Below we’ve split the Branding process into five categories: Inspiration Board, Logo Variations, Brand Style Board, Collateral Design and Website Design.
Step One: Inspiration Board
Some may recognise this step as research. Depending on the size of your project, we do extensive research into who you are, your target audience, what you do and why you do it. We always ask the client to offer as much information as they can, so we don’t misinterpret things or end up with too little information. Having a vision of what you want can help, but here at Purple Panda Media, we like to give our clients not what they want, but what they need in order to succeed.
Step Two: Logo Variations
Once the rough idea of the brand has been decided on, we proceed to create the very first part of the brand, which is the logo. The logo is the first thing a client thinks of visually when they think of a company or brand. Making the logo recognisable and easy to remember are key factors. The first step is to produce a set of five logos we feel work best, and then narrow this down to three after reviewing it with our client. We will produce various versions (normal, black, white, circle, square, etc) of each of the three logos, showing you how it will look in any situation.
Step Three: Brand Style Board
Once the logo is decided, we then expand on the brand by giving our client a brand style board, which is a summary of the brand, including a logo, the colours included in the brand with their colour codes, the logo variations, the special buttons and icons, the fonts used, and any other materials.
Step Four: Collateral Design
The next step is to help produce a set of brand stationary, such as business cards, pens, letterheads, etc. This part is completely optional, but we recommend at the very least producing a business card, which is a vital part to networking.
Step Five: Website Design
Using the style sheet, we then proceed onto creating the website. In this part, again, we aim to give you, the client, what you need in the industry. Using our inspiration board, where we will have looked at other websites in the same position, from all over the world as well as locally, we produce a website that stands out, but also is easy to understand and look at.
