It was a beautiful day yesterday so we left Inverness in search of an adventure and ended up in Newtonmore.  It wasn’t so sunny there… but we decided to walk the famous Wildcat Trail in the hope of seeing actual Wildcats as well as the painted ones. The Wildcat Centre was closed when we arrived so weren’t able to get the brochure detailing the route so we just freestyled ourselves.

The trail starts in the centre and takes you 11k around the outskirts of the town through farm land, wooded glens and along the banks of River Spey.  Its muddy, very very muddy but worth it!

Unfortunately didn’t see any live wildcats but the wooden ones kept us entertained.  Apparently there are over 100 painted wildcats along the trail; we didn’t see anywhere near that number – someone must have stolen them.  That’s my theory anyway, not that we are just unobservant!

And we visited the lovely Christmas Market too in the Townhall…
